Santorini is part of the Cycladic islands and is located directly north of the Island of Crete. Due to the fact that Philoxera never affected the island, most vines are between 50- 200 years old. Established in 1903, Estate Argyros is run by Matthew Argyros, 4th generation of winemaking. Based in Episkopi Santorini, the winery owns more than 30ha of vineyards with pre-phylloxera plants averaging 60 years old, including some of the oldest vines of the island (over 150 years old).

Tasting Note

Atlantis Red comes from the blend of 90% Mandilaria and 10% Mavrotragano. Fruity and tannic, this wine matches well with a great variety of meat dishes. Intense red in color, reminiscent of jam and liquorish, over a smooth spicy and toasted background, which comes from the small percentage of Mavrotragano. Ageing potential 8-10 years.

Food Pairing

Served at 14-16°C with pastas combined with red sauces, veal, meatballs, steaks, pizza, grilled liver and some types of sausage.
